Ducklings is for children from six months old to three years, with an adult in the pool with them. This helps them gain confidence and swimming techniques from an early age.

Water Confidence is for children aged three to six years accompanied by an adult. The little swimmers learn safety, confidence in the water, swimming skills and stroke techniques using fun games.

From six years old, children go onto the Learn to Swim Scheme (graded), in which they are taught all four strokes and move up through the grades.

Children can practise what they have been taught by taking advantage of Swim4Free. Anyone aged 16 and under qualifies for free swimming during public swimming sessions. Simply register for a MORE card at your local KAL centre and pay a one-off fee of £2.

Swim4Free is also available for older people aged 60 and over.
