Personal Training – not just for Madonna

KAL is rolling out its programme of personal trainers in fitness suites to benefit even more customers.

Personal training – no longer the preserve of celebrities and footballers’ wives – is now available at five KAL centres, with more planned over the next few weeks.

The professionally qualified trainers are available for both members and public, although they would need to pay for gym usage as well as the PT session.

Fitness manager Kelly Potts said: “Personal trainers look at your whole lifestyle, they are not just about taking you through your paces in the gym.

“They help you with nutritional advice, keeping more active outside the gym, sleep patterns and healthy habits, such as reducing your alcohol intake.

“Although all gym users have instructors and programmes to follow, you will work harder with a personal trainer. You feel more confident knowing you are doing the exercises correctly and more effectively. Also a personal trainer can see any problems arising – for instance if you are working one side of your body more than the other – and take steps to address that.”

Most people have at least six weekly hour-long sessions, but some use one each time they train several times per week.

Kelly added: “Everyone goes to the gym or exercises for a reason and they don’t always achieve what they wanted to – if they have a personal trainer, they are guaranteed results.”

Personal training is now available in Huddersfield Sports Centre, Spenborough Pool & Fitness Complex, Batley Sports & Tennis Centre, Dewsbury Sports Centre and Stadium Health & Fitness Complex.

Many people begin with a personal trainer to achieve a specific goal – examples include new mums wishing to get their pre-pregnancy body back, those who are planning a wedding, people taking part in marathons or other challenges or a recent illness or injury.

COMPETITION!

KAL is offering someone the chance to win six personal training sessions for free. Simply write in about 50 words why you deserve a package of personal training sessions and what that would mean to you.

Then send your reason to Kelly via email to kelly.potts@kirklees.gov.uk or send them in the post to Kelly at Kirklees Active Leisure, Stadium Business & Leisure Complex, Stadium Way, Huddersfield HD1 6PG.

Closing date for all entries is May 9th and the winner must comply with all the terms and conditions of the centre they choose to take their prize in. Anyone with a medical condition must see their GP before taking part in any exercise. The offer is not open to those under the age of 16.
