Rookies Students Pass Bronze Medallion Award
A New Generation of Life-Savers
The past few weeks has seen a group of Rookie Lifeguards at Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre pass their RLSS Bronze Medallion Award - an award that is 100 years old and considered a flagship award for lifesavers.

Created to form competent levels of knowledge combined with pracitcal rescue-skills in open-water, the award is open to all candidates aged 13+ who are required to undergo 20 hours of formal assessments that includes all aspects of life-saving techniques.
5 such students are Sam Ewart, Vicky Atkinson, Harry Jessop, James Jenkinson, Thomas Yems (pictured). There are also 3 other students from the group who are hoping to take the exam for the award in early July.
Stuart Hodgkiss, their swimming instructor, said "the group has done really well and should be proud of themselves. They've all made their way through the KAL Learn To Swim Scheme to get to this stage and have worked really hard. Well done! Some of the kids have been attending Rookies for over 3 years now so it's great to see them progressing."
