New Batley Pools Now Open!
Batley Sports and Tennis Centre’s newly refurbished swimming pools are now open
The long wait is now over!
Phase three of the £5.26 million refurbishment project to transform the centre into a modern sporting facility worthy of the twenty first century is complete.
The public jumped back into the pools this morning - the main pool reopened at 7.30 for a length swim, the small pool at 10am for fun.

Customers will be amazed with the newly remodelled reception area which opened last week (Monday July 12), including a fast-track system for gym members using a swipe card.
The wetside changing rooms have been completely gutted and refitted, with communal areas and male and female only areas, to suit both families and individuals. The changing rooms have clean, modern Trespa walls and have all new sanitary ware and equipment.
The pool hall itself has been redecorated, with Trespa panels on the walls and new tiles on the floor. Its ceilings have been dropped and fitted with modern spotlights.
Families with young children will love the new small pool, which now boasts the Splash Factory – a fun, poolside water feature with tipping buckets and water squirters. Lights above are disco lights and flash in time to the music.

Anthony Meadowcroft, the centre’s new Operations Manager, said:
“Customers have been very impressed so far with the new reception area and the pools. We are very pleased with the way it all looks now.
“The reception is plush and massive compared to the old one – and obviously much better than the temporary one that customers have patiently put up with for the past few months.
“We would like to thank them all for their patience and hope they love the pool and changing rooms. They look fantastic.
“Young children from toddlers upwards will go wild for the Splash Factory where they can soak each other and have lots of fun on the side of the pool.
“We are now the best equipped and most modern swimming pool in the whole area. You won’t believe your eyes! Come over and enjoy it!”
The plant room for the pool has also been rebuilt which will give better water and air quality.
The final phase of the project will be finished by October, when there will be an official reopening event and family fun weekend.
KAL’s sales teams are at the centre this week to help people who wish to sign up for the Cheeky Deal, a summer gym membership of six weeks for the price of four.
Kirklees Council has invested £2.75m into the project, alongside the grant award of £2.37m from the Government and a contribution from Kirklees Active Leisure.
The Batley refurbishment will build on the already substantial investment of £11.1 million invested by the council and Kirklees Active Leisure over the last seven years into improving and modernising sports centres and swimming pools across Kirklees.
