KAL and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing Join Forces
The two not-for-profit organisations which look after Kirklees Council’s housing stock and sports centres are signing a partnership agreement.
Kirklees Active Leisure, the charitable trust which runs eleven council-owned sports centres and swimming pools, and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, which manages the council’s housing stock, are becoming partners.
As part of the agreement, the organisations will both help to promote each other.
David Heddon, KAL’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Alasdair Brown, KAL’s Chief Executive signed the 12-month agreement with Simon Rogers, Chief Executive of KNH and Helen O’Sullivan, KNH Excel Manager.
KAL will offer discounts to any KNH tenant who holds an Excel card, which will include swimming, use of fitness suites and fitness classes.
KAL is also helping to deliver the KNH Kids Scheme, an education programme carried out in schools close to large KNH housing estates. These include Ashbrow and Hillside in Huddersfield and Westmoor in Dewsbury.
Simon Rogers was full of praise for the new Partnership. He said: “We are extremely pleased that KAL have come on board to help us deliver our recognition and reward scheme, KNH Excel.
“The continued good work that KNH and our partners do in our local communities, especially through the KNH Kids programme, go a long way in helping us deliver our mission statement of ‘quality homes and services in successful communities’.”
Kirklees Active Leisure Chief Executive Alasdair Brown, said: “We are delivering the healthy aspect of the KNH Kids Scheme which includes healthy living, sensible eating and why we should exercise.
“KNH will promote KAL’s facilities and services to its tenants using its magazine and website, which can only benefit their lives and also help to eventually make KAL self-sustaining.
“There are also plans to carry out outreach activities in the future within KNH housing estates.”
